Obituary

WAYLAND: Christine R. (MacDonald) Kelton, 77, died peacefully surrounded by her family at Massachusetts General Hospital on January 6, 2019 after a courageous struggle.
She was born on April 28, 1941 in Ayrshire, Scotland the daughter of the late Donald and Agnes (Baxter) MacDonald.
Christine was the beloved wife for 53 years of Atty. Clyde B. Kelton, Jr of Wayland. Loving mother of Beth R. Wetherbee and her husband Robert of Milford and the late David J. Kelton (1995) and Rebecca A. Kelton (2000). Cherished grandmother of Mirelle K. and Tyler D. Wetherbee of Milford. Sister of Rosemary White and her husband Derek and the late John and David A. MacDonald. Sister-in-law of Anne MacDonald and cousin of Moira MacKay and her husband Iain all of Scotland. Also survived by several nieces and nephews and her great niece Beth White with whom she enjoyed a special relationship.
Christine spent her formative years in Scotland where she received her education and came to the United States in 1965. She had been a resident of Wayland for over 54 years.
For many years, Christine shared her talents as a nurse’s aide and as a caregiver and Nanny for many families in the Wayland, Weston and Wellesley area.
She was an active member for many years at the Community United Methodist Church and sang in the church choir. She enjoyed quilting and sewing and was a voracious reader.
In addition to a multitude of good friends the family would like to recognize the care and support of her close friends Judy, Jane, Barbara and Laurel.
A special loving thanks to her sister Rosemary who made several extended overseas trips to care for Chris during her prolonged illness.
Christine was a gentle person and was devoted to her husband, children and grandchildren and enjoyed time spent with them. Chris always treasured family gatherings at Beth and Bob’s house. She was especially proud of Mirelle and Tyler for their academic accomplishments. She was also comforted by her beloved dog Maggie.
The family would like to thank the medical and nursing staff of Blake 6, Ellison and Phillips House of the Massachusetts General Hospital as well as the MGH Kidney Transplant Clinic for their outstanding care and treatment.
Visitations will be held on Friday, January 18, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (off Rte. 30), Wayland.
Her funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 11:00 am at the Community United Methodist Church, 5 Damon Street (corner of Rte. 27 and Damon St), Wayland. Interment to follow in the Kelton family lot in Lakeview Cemetery in Wayland.

Chris was a very caring person who was always willing to extend a hand to others. We ask that in her memory you please extend an act of kindness in life going forward.
