Barbara A. (Peters) Kelly, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at her home in Charlestown. She was 83 years of age.
Barbara was born in Malden on April 30, 1935, a daughter of the late Arthur Peters and Jane E. (Nolan) Peters. She grew up in Charlestown where she attended St. Mary's Parochial School and graduated from Charlestown High School. Barbara worked for 30 years as an office manager with Dr. Michaelson, and 15 years with Dr. Daniel Sokol. She enjoyed people, her neighborhood, and loved her garden. Barbara was always thoughtful of everyone else.
Barbara is the beloved wife of 63 years to the late Francis L. "Frank" Kelly. She is the devoted mother of Barbara "Barney" McGonagle and her late husband Patrick, Francis "Kicker" Kelly and his wife Maura, Nancy Kelly Wright and her late husband G.T., Kathleen Higgins, Kevin Kelly and his wife Maureen, Maureen Kelly and longtime family friend Diane Barry, Jane Kelly and Billy Cantin, and Jill Moynihan and her husband Danny. She is the loving Grandma to 23 grandchildren and the late Bryan McGonagle and Kaitlyn Kelly and also her 7 great-grandchildren. She is the beloved sister of the late Arthur Peters and Francis Peters. She is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Barbara's Funeral on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. Her burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Her visiting hours will be on Monday, January 14, 2019 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
