Elizabeth Glidden of North Hill Needham, formerly of Newton died on Dec. 11, 2005 at North Hill where she had been a resident for many years. She was 90 years old. Miss Glidden was a graduate of Wellesley College Class of 1936. After graduation, she worked for Poor’s Publishing, Babson Park, Wellesley and then joined American Mutual Insurance Co. of Boston and Wakefield. She was an Executive Administrative Assistant for many years until her retirement. She the devoted her time to many organizations, including Newton Wellesley Hospital. She was a devoted member of the First Unitarian Society in Newton where she served on several leadership positions for the Women’s Alliance. She also served on the Search Committee that called Dr. Gerald Krich in 1978 as minister for 18 years. She is survived by many cousins including Robert Pickard of Providence RI, Marjorie A. Randolph and Harvey Glidden of Crowley TX. She leaves many devoted friends especially those from North Hill who will miss her. A funeral service will be held on Sat Jan 7, 2006 at 10 AM in the First Unitarian Society in Newton 1326 Washington St. West Newton followed by a burial service at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge. She will be laid to rest with her late parents, Arthur I. and Cora (Welch) Glidden and her aunt Flora (Welch) Draper. A reception in her honor will be held following the burial at 12:30 at North Hill. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Class of 1936 Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Wellesley College 106 Central St. Wellesley, MA 02481.
