Eileen M. (O'Connor) Sullivan a long time resident of Charlestown and formerly of Bettevent, County Cork, Ireland died on Tuesday December 20, 2005 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston following a lengthy illness. She was 81 years old.
Eileen was born in Bettevent, County Cork, Ireland and grew up there. She came to the United States in 1948 as a young woman. She settled in Charlestown, where she worked for several years as a secretary at the Charlestown Boys and Girls Club. Following her career there, she worked as a maid at the Statler Hilton Hotel in Boston.
Eileen was the beloved wife of the late Daniel Sullivan. She is the devoted mother of Katherine Brownell and her husband Michael of Middleboro, Jeremiah Sullivan of Winchester, Daniel Sullivan and his wife Kathleen of Londonderry, N.H., John Sullivan and his wife Vincenza of Saugus. Eileen is the loving grandmother of 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She is the beloved sister of Mary Mooney of Limerick, Ireland and the late Jane Murphy, Daniel, Cornelius, Joseph and Margaret O'Connor. Loving aunt of several nieces and nephews.
Eileen's Funeral will be held on Tuesday December 27, 2005 from the Frank H. Carr Funeral Home 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 am. followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Catherine's Church 49 Vine St. Charlestown at 11 am. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours for Eileen will be held on Monday December 26, 2005 from 4 to 8 pm. Burial will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery, West Roxbury, Mass.
