Obituary

Francis Michael Grinley of Franklin, age 82, passed away after a short illness on January 8, 2019.

He was predeceased by his wife Antoinette in September. He is survived by his children Michael and wife Dana of Goshen, MA, Jeffrey and wife Anna of Franklin, Amy Finley of Franklin, Allan and wife Bernadette of Ringwood, NJ, and David and partner Lisa Hutchins of Framingham.

Beloved brother of Thomas and his wife Virginia of Lecanto, Florida, Richard of Newton, Stephen of Amesbury, Stephanie and her husband Robert McGuire of Hudson, and James of Londonderry, N. H. He was also predeceased by his sister, Sally Lombard.

Loving grandfather of Nicole, Gary, Michael, Stephanie, and Gus. Great-grandfather to Shelby, Haydenne, Cameron, Abigail, and Jacob.

He was a graduate of Newton High School where he met his wife of 63 years. He enlisted in the Marines and served for 4 years attaining the rank of sergeant. His career in art direction included many excursions into drawing, painting, and cartooning. He is a past Exalted Ruler of the Franklin Elks and served as chaplain for many years. His love of family was only rivaled by buying, collecting, and reading books. His wife, Anne, had recently told their children that "he was the kindest person that she'd ever met."

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Franklin Elks Fuel Assistance for Veterans program.

Visiting hours at the Oteri Funeral Home, 33 Cottage Street, Franklin, MA, Friday, Jan 11th from 4-8pm. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home Saturday morning at 10:00 followed by a collation at the Elks Hall, 1077 Pond Street, Franklin, MA.
