Obituary

After a long, hard and courageous battle with cancer, Jimmy Thompson passed away on Wednesday, January 2nd. He was in the comfort of his own home in Malden, MA and surrounded by love.

Jimmy was born July 10, 1963 in Kingston, Jamaica to Gladys and Vincent. At the age of 10, Jimmy and his siblings moved to America. Jimmy graduated from Hyde Park High School and took classes at Massasoit Community College. He worked for the MBTA as a trackman for 17 years. Throughout his time there he took great pride in helping to ensure that the ‘T’ was safe for all riders.

Jimmy was exceptionally talented. He was a third degree black belt who enjoyed showcasing his high-kicks and martial arts form whenever possible. He was also a well-known and beloved reggae musician. For over 20 years, he performed in venues across the New England area with bands such as I-Vibes, Dub Station and Dreadrocks.

Jimmy will be remembered for his wonderful smile, easy going nature and his ability to live life on his own terms. He loved helping people and was there whenever you needed him.

Jimmy is survived by his sons James and Michael; his mother Gladys; his step-father Scotty; his partner Susanna and family; brothers Marvell and Junior; sister Angela; nieces Nana, Andrea and Karrington; nephews Haiden, Savion, Tyson, Xavier and Kingsley; great nieces Khylee and Kaylee; and great nephew Keone Jr.

Viewing and prayer services will be held on Saturday, January 12th at 10:00am to 1:00pm at Casper Funeral Home, located 187 Dorchester Street, Boston, MA. The program will include the following:
· Viewing: 10:00am – 11:00am
· Prayer Service: 11:00am – 12:00pm
· Final Viewing: 12:00pm – 1:00pm

A Celebration of Life event for Jimmy will be held at a later date. Event details will be shared via social media.
