TEWKSBURY - George A. Castro, age 71, a retired bookbinder, died Wednesday morning, Dec.
21, after a long and courageous fight with cancer.
He was born in Somerville, July 26, 1934, one of fifteen children of the late Anthony and Eliza
(Sousa) Castro. He was raised in Cambridge, but had live in Tewksbury for the past 36 years.
Prior to retirement, he was employed as a bookbinder by Publishers Book Company in Winchester
and Stanhope Bindery Company in Boston. He was a member of the Graphic Communication
International Union for over 29 years.
Mr. Castro was a communicant of St. Dorothy’s Church.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Denise Blanchet and her husband Raymond of
Billerica, Jill Perlupo and her husband Joseph of Dracut; four grandchildren, Kristen McKenna
and her husband Paul of Tyngsboro, Colene Blanchet of Chicago, Erin Perlupo and Dylan Perlupo
both of Dracut; two great grandchildren, Lucas Nicoll and Eli McKenna; four brothers, his twin,
Joseph Castro of Las Vegas, NV, Anthony Castro of Tewksbury John Castro of Lynn, Lawrence
Castro of Chelsea; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Rosemary Hepp and her husband Ken of
IL, Dorothy Menize, and Eliza Guerriero and her husband Anthony all of Tewksbury, Diana
Castro of Las Vegas, NV; two sisters-in-law, Emily Castro of Tewksbury and Maria Castro of
Peabody; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was also brother of the late Alfred, Manuel, Albert, Gabriel, David and Adam Castro.
His Funeral Mass was held Saturday, Dec. 24, in St. Dorothy’s Church, Wilmington.
