Obituary


SPRINGFIELD ~ Beatrice Y. (Roy) Turcotte, 87, of the Glenwood section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, December 27, 2018. She passed into Eternal Life at Heritage Hall South in Agawam surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts on August 15, 1931, a beloved daughter of the late Alphonse and Bernadette Roy. Her mother, Bernadette, passed away when she was seven years old and she was raised by her father, Alphonse, and her step-mother, Oliva (Dube) Roy. She was raised on Douglas Street in the North End section of Springfield and graduated from the former Saint Anne Academy in Marlborough, Massachusetts. She was a loving wife and mother to her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She was a communicant of the former Saint Thomas Aquinas Church in Springfield where she was a member of Les Dames de Sainte Anne. She most recently was a communicant of Holy Name of Jesus Parish at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Chicopee. She leaves her beloved husband and best friend, Andrew S. “Andy” Turcotte. They were married on October 2, 1954 at Saint Thomas Aquinas Church in Springfield and were blessed with over 64 years of happiness together. She also leaves her four loving children, Richard G. Turcotte and his wife, Meredith, of Gloucester, Rosemarie E. Schneiderman and her husband, Jeffrey, of Nazareth, PA, Monique C. Muns and her husband, Ronald, of Wilbraham, and John R. Turcotte of Wilbraham; her eight cherished grandchildren, Courtney Turcotte, Danica McCann and her husband, Malcolm-Ishmel McCann, Rylan Spence, Daniel Schneiderman and his fiancée, Katherine Shetterly, David Schneiderman, Tiffany Borsari and her husband, Douglas, Marissa Muns and her fiancé, Kyle Pinkus, and Alexander Vasquez; her cherished great-grandson, Luca Borsari; her dear sister, Rita Massey of Springfield; her dear daughter-in-law, Evelyn Solivan of Ludlow; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Turcotte and Roy families. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her two dear brothers, Fernand Roy and Raphael Roy. Her Funeral will be held on Friday, April 5, 2019 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 9:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104. Her Committal will follow the Mass at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery 1390 Main Street, Agawam. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, April 4, 2019 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Her family requests that memorial donations be made in her memory to the American Kidney Fund, 11921 Rockville Pike No. 300, Rockville, MD 20852 or online at:
