Obituary

Willie Lou Colbert Carter, 77 of Hartford departed this life for her heavenly home on December 11, 2018 at 4:00 pm at home surrounded by her family.

She was born on April 16, 1941 in Hartford, CT. Willie (aka) Kitty was a resident of Hartford all her life. She worked for the Mayflower Laundry and American Linen for many years.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories four sons Floyd Colbert, of Winsted, CT Carnell Carter (Sharon) of Big Spring, Texas, Charles Carter of Hartford, CT and John Carter (Tamica) of Douglasville, GA and two Daughters, Debra Ann Carter of Hartford and Betty Ann Evans (Charles Keith Evans) of Windsor, Two sisters, Evangelist Mary Lou Anderson-Word (Sidney O Word) of New Britain, CT, Carrie May Brown and (Elder Brown Sr.) of Windsor, CT.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Desiree Jolene, Sheka Neal, Rachel McCallister, Anthony Carter, Xylina Carter, Charles Carter Jr., Tiia Cooper (Carter), John Thomas McArthur Carter Jr., Sean O’Brien, Kierra Maria Evans and Kolby Evans and 10 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Harry Carter, and two sisters Christine Dixon and Mary Eliza Cupe.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 11a.m. to 12noon with a celebration of willie’s life at 12noon in the chapel of the Hartford Community Funeral Home 380 Maple Avenue, Hartford. Burial will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery in Hartford.
