Obituary

Michael R. Tognarelli, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge. He was 52 years of age.

Michael was born in Boston on February 20, 1966, a son of Florence (Dunbar) Tognarelli and Mario Tognarelli. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated at St. Francis De Sales Parochial School and attended Blue Hill Vocational School. Michael dedicated himself to the City of Boston from 1985 to 1995 as a Special Events Coordinator and then became Technical Director of Special Events for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (DCR) from 1995 until his health recently prevented him from working. He was a member of the North End Athletic Association, Boston Sparks Association, S.P.A.M. of Massachusetts and the Mystic Valley Gun Club. He also enjoyed playing Santa Claus during the many special events during Christmas time for the City of Boston and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Michael is the beloved son of Florence (Dunbar) Tognarelli and the late Mario Tognarelli. He is the devoted brother of the late Joseph A. Tognarelli. He is the beloved nephew of Ralph Dunbar. He is the dear friend of Lisa Peduto and Mary Boucher. He is also survived by many loving cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Michael's Funeral on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. His burial is private. His visiting hours will be on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
