Obituary

Mr. Clement “Clem” A. Cotnoir, 95, of Fitchburg, passed away at his home on Sunday December 16, 2018. The son of the late Eugene and Blanche (Marion) Cotnoir, he was born in Fitchburg, on March 28th, 1923, and had been an area resident all his life. Mr. Cotnoir served honorably in the United States Navy during World War II. He was stationed on the LST 118, in the Asiatic - Pacific Theater and participated in the Battle of Saipan, Occupation of Guam, and the Liberation of the Phillippines. Upon returning home, Mr. Cotnoir worked for Weyerhaeuser Co., as a machine tender in the paper mill. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Parish, and a member of American Legion Post 429. He enjoyed woodworking and fixing anything with a motor, but most of all he loved to be surrounded by his family. Mr. Cotnoir is the widower of Rita Y. (Comeau) Cotnoir and was also pre-deceased by his four sons; David Cotnoir, James Cotnoir, Wayne Cotnoir, and Kevin Cotnoir. He is survived by one daughter; Carol and her husband Donald Hunt of Fitchburg, three daughters-in-law; Nancy Cotnoir of Methuen, Jane Cotnoir of Leominster, and Carol Cotnoir of Fitchburg. There are many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The Cotnoir Family would like to thank Dr. Robert Babineau Jr., and the staff of UMass Memorial Hospice for their care and compassion during this time
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, December 19th from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd. Fitchburg, MA. His funeral procession will begin on Thursday, December 20th, at 9:00 am, at the Brandon Funeral Home, followed by his Funeral Mass that will be celebrated at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Church, burial will follow in St Bernard Cemetery.
