Natalie “Jean” (Uva) Avallone, Boston’s one-time “First Lady of Beauty” died Friday in Palm Beach, Florida.
Jean owned and operated Mam’selle on Boston’s famed Newbury Street, a large full service salon and upscale fashion boutique. With her son, Anthony she also owned Avallon of Boston, a salon and boutique also on Newbury St. After a career of over 40 years Jean retired to Florida.
She was the beloved wife of the late Emilio “Arky” Avallone. She was a devoted mother of Anthony E. Avallone of Palm Beach and Stanley B. Uva of Las Vegas. She leaves 2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was the dear sister of the late Raymond Bartholomew and daughter of the late Jean Parker.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Wednesday at 8:45 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Leonard Church, Hanover St., Boston, at 9:45 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday 5 - 9. Services will conclude with burial at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge.
