Ned R. Simpson, Jr., 90

Ned R. Simpson, Jr., age 90, of Norton, formerly of Brockton passed away peacefully, surrounded by his adoring family on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Wingate at Norton. He was the beloved husband of Eleanor F. (Brisbois) Simpson.

Born in Stoughton, MA on February 21, 1928, he was a loving son of the late Ned R., Sr. and Mabel E. (Olden) Simpson.

Ned grew up in Canton and was a 1945 graduate of Canton High School. He had made his home in Norton for over fifteen years and previously resided in Brockton for many years.

Prior to retiring, Mr. Simpson had worked as a production worker for the Mueller Corporation in East Bridgewater. He had formerly worked at United Remodeling in Quincy and when younger had owned and operated gas stations in Canton and Brockton.

Ned’s pride and joy were his loving family. He was an avid New England sports fan and especially enjoyed supporting and cheering on the Boston Red Sox. His other hobbies included fishing, golfing, bowling, playing horse shoes and pool, Saturday night scrabble games, jigsaw puzzles and when younger, roller skating with his wife Eleanor.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his devoted children: Cheryl A. Alfieri and her husband James of Carver, Lynn M. Broderick of Irvine, California and Michelle T. Brown and her companion Stephan Lewis of Norton. He was the cherished grandfather of Edward Alfieri and his wife Colleen, Jamie McLean and her husband Paul, Ryan Broderick and his wife Grace, Kristen Brown and her longtime companion Jonathan Beikes, Jennifer Reid and her husband Joshua and Eric Brown and his wife Vanessa and great grandfather of Amelia, James, Peyton, Brooklyn and Corinne. He was the dear brother of Edith Grout and her husband Bill of New Hampshire, Jean Horigan of Sharon, Charles Simpson and his wife Rachel of Florida, the late Frederick Simpson who is survived by his wife Rose and the late Robert Simpson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Wednesday, December 19th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton.

Funeral services, along with burial at the Newland Cemetery in Norton will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, Ned’s family has requested that contributions in his memory be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverly Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452.
