Leicester___ Erich Lange, 78, passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2018 being constantly in the presence of family in Christopher House of Worcester. He was born in Poland in 1939, moved to Germany for a brief time before finally immigrating to the United States in 1961. He was the son of Edward Lange and Lydia (Breskot)Lange Szymczak. He was predeceased by his step-father Stephen Szymczak and a step daughter Cindy Plucienik Powell. Erich leaves his faithful wife Halina (Bogaj) Lange of fifty-five years; a son, Edward Lange and his wife Tina; brothers, Simon and his wife Christine, Steven and his wife Linda; sisters, Irene Couture and her husband Robert, Christine LaPalme and her husband Mike. Erich also leaves three grandchildren, Burgess Powell daughter of Andrew Powell, Adam and Trisha Lange; nieces and nephews. Erich worked at Parker Manufacturing and later worked many years at Reed Rolled Thread in Holden in the machine shop before retiring.
Erich enjoyed working on things in one of his many sheds but always had time to help his wife, Halinka, out in their yard with the many fruit and vegetable gardens. He also engaged in the hobby of bee keeping to add to their list of home made goods. He enjoyed bringing home his catch from numerous fishing trips whether it was summer or winter. He was a member of the Singletary Rod & Gun and the Auburn Sportsman Club.
A dedicated man of God, he was a longtime member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church before moving to warmer climates to enjoy his retirement. After about five years in Arizona, they missed family and tried life in Florida where Erich enjoyed swimming every day. With failing health, they decided to move back to Massachusetts buying a new home in Rockdale. Thankful acknowledgments to Robert “Uncle Bob” Couture for going above and beyond in helping during this troublesome time.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2018 from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., Worcester with a Mass at 10:30 a.m., in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St. Worcester. Calling hours in the funeral home are Wednesday, December 12, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery.
