Obituary

William J. Payton, age 63, of Raynham formerly of Brockton, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2018 surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with Frontotemporal Degeneration (FTD). Born in Brockton, son of the late David F. Payton and the late A. Kathryn (Kay) Payton, Bill was a graduate of Brockton High School Class of 1973.

Bill worked for the Superior Baking Company and the City of Brockton. After earning his Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator License, he worked for the Mass. Water Resource Authority as a shift supervisor. Bill was plant manager of the Taunton Wastewater Treatment Plant before returning to M.W.R.A. until his retirement in 2012.

Bill was a passionate golfer and a member of D.W. Fields Golf Club for many years. He and his golf buddies enjoyed “analyzing their round of golf” at the Polish White Eagles Club and Doyles. Bill also loved to read and ride his bike, especially on the Shining Sea Bike path in Falmouth. Bill knew how to be a friend as is evidenced by his many lifelong buddies.

Bill is survived by his sons, Christopher P. Payton and his wife Stephanie and their children, Tre, Tea and Christopher, Jr. of Middleboro and Daniel A. Payton and his wife Cary of Norwood. He also will be missed by his sisters, Jane F. Marochino and her husband Frank of Bridgewater and Kathleen M. Payton and her wife Joanne Suave of Gloucester, as well as his brother, Robert M. Payton and his wife Kathleen of Brockton. He also leaves several nieces, nephews and two very special friends, Jim Kuliesis and Jan Sutherland.
