TEWKSBURY - Mr. Colin Walter Brace, age 63, died peacefully on Saturday morning, December 8, at Lowell General Hospital’s Saints Campus, four days short of his sixty-fourth birthday. He was the beloved husband of JoAnn (Apruzzese) Brace, with whom he had celebrated a thirty-first wedding anniversary this past March 28th.
Colin was born in Moncton, New Brunswick Canada, on December 12, 1954, one of two sons of Jean M. (Tait) Brace of Tewksbury and the late Lester R. Brace. After arriving in the U.S. at age two his family settled in Tewksbury, where he became a Naturalized U.S. Citizen. Colin attended Tewksbury Schools, and graduated Tewksbury Memorial high School with the Class of 1972. He went on to earn an Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts from Middlesex Community College. Illness forced his early retirement from Uni-First Corporation in Wilmington, where he had served as an I.T. Specialist. Colin was a Ham Radio Operator with the lifelong call sign “WA1KWA,” and a devoted Professional Baseball fan, choosing the N.Y. Mets as his favorite Team. Besides his beloved wife and mother, he leaves a daughter, Charlotte T. Brace and her partner, Bee Walsh now residing in Manchester, England; a son, Colin L. Brace of Tewksbury; a brother, Gerald L. Brace and his wife Lynne M. (Berthiaume) of Brunswick, ME; a dear friend, John Daughenbaugh of Lowell; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours are Wednesday, Dec. 12, from 3:00 until 6:45 p.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home , corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte. 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, Ph. (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950.
