Acushnet – Alton E. Taber, Jr., 90, of Acushnet passed away at the William Childs Hospice House, Palm Bay, Florida on December 4, 2018. He was husband of the late Catherine C. (Lamancusa) Taber.
Mr. Taber was born in Acushnet, son of the late Alton E., Sr. and Viola (Apsey) Taber, and resided in the town most of his life. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, retiring as a Lieutenant Commander after 20 years of service. He taught school in Maine for 12 years, enjoyed hunting & fishing and was a member of the D.A.V.
Survivors include 4 sons: David Taber; Alton E. Taber III and his wife, Dyan; Henry Taber and his wife, Becky; and Wayne Taber and his wife, Patrice; 5 grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours at the Kirby Funeral Home, 61 Tarkiln Hill Road, New Bedford on Thursday, December 13, 2018, 4:00-6:00 P.M.. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, December 14, 2018 at 11:00 A.M..
Burial will be in Acushnet Cemetery.
