Brenda S. (Souza) LaFleur, 58, of New Bedford passed away Friday, December 7, 2018 at St. Luke's Hospital surrounded by her loving family after a long illness. She was the wife of Gary R. LaFleur.
Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Antonio and Antonia (Pinho) Souza, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
She was formerly employed as a teacher for New Bedford Public Schools for 20 years until her retirement. In retirement, she was employed by Titleist in their custom division. She was also the owner of Kids R Us Landing Day Care in New Bedford.
Brenda loved the beach, the outdoors and spending time with her family and friends. She would go out of her way to help anyone and was liked by everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her husband Gary; her daughter, Carey DaSilva and her husband Manuel; her step-daughter, Kortney LaFleur; her grandson, Cody Guidry; her granddaughter, Tayanah Gomes; four brothers, Michael, Brian, Peter, and James Souza; two sisters, Linda Fontes and Cynthia Pousinho; her lifelong best friend, Beatrice Bruce; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sister, Janet LaFrance.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at 11 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 9-11 AM, prior to the service.
