Obituary

Donald R. Christy, Sr. of Franklin, formerly of Medfield, West Roxbury and Roslindale, passed away December 6, 2018 surrounded by his family.

Born in Boston to the late Harry and Dorothy J. (Manning) Christy, Don graduated Roslindale High School Class of 1956. He was the beloved husband of the late Jane D (Casey) Christy.

Treasured father to Karen and her husband Christopher Warren of Franklin, Donald Christy, Jr. and his partner Julie of Bellingham and Katherine and her husband Captain William Schultz, USN of Dover, NH. Cherished Grandfather of Julia Warren and her fiancé Phillip Oettgen of Dedham, Max Warren of South Boston, Caroline and Olivia Schultz of Dover, NH. Donald leaves a brother Robert D of Florida. Also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Along with Jane, Don dedicated his life to family and friends and their happiness. He enjoyed any activity that involved or revolved around them, especially sports. A great high school athlete he enjoyed coaching and watching his children and grandchildren play. Don loved to be involved in the conversation. He had a knack for storytelling and a quick wit that will remembered by many.

Before his retirement, Don worked for JF White Contracting Company for many years where he made lifelong friends. There he worked on projects including the building of Schaefer Stadium, South Station, the Post Office Square Garage, Andrew Station, Deer Island, and The Big Dig. He was a member of many boards, including The Executive Committee of the Foundation & Marine Contractors Association of New England and Chestnut Ridge Condominium Association.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Tuesday Dec. 11th, at 9AM from the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Jude Church 86 Main St. Norfolk, at 10AM.

His interment will be held privately.

Calling hours are Monday from 5-7PM at the funeral home.

The Christy Family wants to extend appreciation to Milford Hospital and Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wrentham for their care and compassion during the last few months.
