Obituary



LEICESTER: Robert M. Harris, Sr., 86, of King Street died Wednesday, Dec. 5 in his home after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 64 years, Carolyn A. (MacIntosh) Harris, two sons; Robert M. Harris, Jr. and his wife Jane of Leicester and Kenneth S. Harris and his wife Sharron of Leicester, two sisters; Winifred Mangano of Holden and Rita Giles of Oxford, three grandchildren; Erin Stimson, Ryan Harris and Nicholas Harris and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 15 brothers and sisters.
Robert was born in Cherry Valley, son of John A. and Annie C. (Flanagan) Harris. He worked for the Town of Leicester Highway Dept. for 29 years retiring as a foreman. After retiring he worked as a transporter at Becker College for several years. He was a past member of the Sons of the Legion Post 443. He was a member of St. Joseph's St. Pius X Parish, the Knights of Columbus Council 4528, the Quinebaug Valley Campers Association and camped at Oak Haven Camp Ground for 37 years. He was a Lieutenant at the Cherry Valley fire station for many years. He enjoyed camping, playing cards and horseshoes and spending time with his family.
The funeral will be held Saturday, December 8 from MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main Street, Leicester with a Mass at 11:00 AM in St. Pius X Church, 1153 Main Street, Leicester.Burial will be at a later date. Calling hours will precede the funeral from 9:00-10:30 AM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph St. Pius X Parish, 759 Main Street, Leicester, MA 01524.
