Obituary

Clayton Rogers, 96, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Thursday, December 6, 2018, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Saturday, December 8, 2018, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. John Gibbs, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in New Hope Cemetery, in Coffee County, Georgia. The family will receive friends Friday evening, from 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.

Mr. Rogers was born November 23, 1922, in Willacoochee, Georgia, to the late Wiley Vance & Viona Butler Rogers. He was a block and brick mason and he took pride in his work. Mr. Rogers also was a bee keeper and bottled honey. He served his country honorably in the United States Army Air Corps, being stationed in the Pacific Theater. He served in World War II and the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Willadeen Rogers of Fitzgerald; children & their spouses: Jerry Miller & Barbara of Melbourne, Florida, Glenda Brooks & Corrin of Tallahassee, Florida, Wesley Meaker & Gina of Fitzgerald, Ray Meaker of Tennessee, Vance Rogers & Donna of Wray and Bonnie Sue Rogers Douglas & Eddie of Fitzgerald; nine grandchildren: Tammie Smith, Karen Duncan & Rich, Jennifer Carey & Stephen, Steven Meaker & Caitlin; Autumn Riley & Justin, Courtney Rogers, Galanis Papachristou & April, Clay Rogers & Sara and Michael Meaker; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter and a sister, Opal Herring of Fitzgerald. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 8 brothers and sisters.
