John L. Moniz, 77, died Tuesday, December 4th, 2018. He was the beloved husband of Barbara Fetta-Moniz. They had celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on October 10th.
Born in Pawtucket, he was a son of the late John Pacheco and Mary (Pecorino) Moniz. He had lived in Greenville for over thirty years, having made his home in town in 1983.
After graduating from Tollman High School in 1960, John proudly served in the U.S. Air Force, and often spoke of time spent at Carswell in Fort Worth, Texas and the Naha Air Force Base in Okinawa, Japan.
He worked as a Field Superintendent for H. Carr & Sons in Providence for over forty years. John also enjoyed playing golf, and was an avid cyclist for many years.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two brothers, Anthony P. Moniz and Robert A. Moniz, a sister, Theresa M. Reid, two nephews, William Reid and his wife, Melissa and Ryan Moniz, and his two grand-nieces, Rachel and Riley Reid.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 12th at 11:00 am in St. Philip Church, Greenville. Burial will be private. Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 11th from 4-7pm.
