Obituary

CHARLTON – Edward C. Prunier, Sr, 90, died Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at home after a period of declining health. His wife, Nancy M. (Stone) Prunier, died in 1992.

He leaves 3 sons, Edward C. Prunier, Jr. & his wife Sylvia of Albuquerque, NM, Gregory J. Prunier & his wife Paula of Germantown, MD and Wayne S. Prunier & his friend Suzanne Bourque of Charlton; a daughter, Dawn M. Myers & her husband Thomas of Charlton; 10 grandchildren, Aaron Prunier, Heather Abrego, Karen DeMarco, Melanie Cooper, Laura Alden, Edward Prunier, Elizabeth Myers, Kelsey Prunier, Stephen Myers and Claire Myers; 10 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Shirley Wolfenden & her husband Wesley of Lutz, FL, Barbara LePage & her husband Paul, and Bernadette Davidson & her husband Donald all of Sturbridge; nephews and nieces.

He was born and raised in Worcester, a son of Edward A. and Jennie (Wrobleska) Prunier. He was a Charlton resident since 1938.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving on the Aircraft Carrier U.S.S. Leyte. After the war the Leyte was involved in a Good Will Mission Cruise. He was one of the organizers of the Leyte Group, which met every year in different parts of the country. He was a member and past commander of the Charlton American Legion Post #391.

Mr. Prunier was employed as a die sinker with Wyman-Gordon in Worcester for 40 years retiring in 1991. After retirement he worked as a limousine driver and a funeral attendant at several funeral homes, including Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home. He served on the Dudley Charlton Regional School Board from 1970-1974 and was part of the building committee that was responsible for planning and building of Shepherd Hill Regional High School, Dudley.

He was a communicant of Saint Joseph Church. He enjoyed traveling and fishing and sailing on Narragansett Bay. His greatest joy came from the time he spent with his family.

The family would like to thank Dr. Paul Harrington, Dr. Christopher Seidler and Suzanne Bourque for their exceptional care for Ed since he became ill.

The funeral will be held Monday, December 10, with a Mass at 10:30 AM in Saint Joseph Church, 10 H. Putnam Road Extension. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, December 9, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM in the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street, Webster and again from 9:30 to 10:30 AM, Monday in the Narthex of Saint Joseph’s Church, prior to the Mass. Donations in his name may be made to Harrington Hospital Cancer Center, 55 Sayles Street, Southbridge, MA 01550.
