Obituary

Derek D. Brillon, 40, of Manville died Saturday December 1, 2018 at Landmark Medical Center following a sudden illness. Derek passed away surrounded by lots and lots of love.
Born in Woonsocket Derek was the loving son of Gilbert R. “Gil” and Jacqueline E. “Jackie” (Beaulieu) Brillon of Manville. Derek was a lifelong resident of Manville and a 1996 graduate of Lincoln High School.
Derek worked as the manager of the Village Cafe in Johnston for several years and in recent years was employed as a lab technician at Crown Optical.
Derek was a friendly, kind and generous soul who held his family and large circle of friends dear and close to his heart. He enjoyed doing arts and crafts and was known to be meticulous in taking care of his car, “his ride”.
Derek had a particular talent in all things culinary; he was a great cook and baker. Organizing and preparing parties and food for friends and family to come together and share good times was right up Derek’s alley.
Derek’s world was one of jokes and laughter, fun and even “crazy good times” spent with those around him, especially his “extended family “from the Harmony Café in Manville.
Derek loved the Christmas season and had even put up all the family’s decorations in anticipation of yet another magical Christmas time. As a tribute to Derek those decorations will be staying up at home as Derek’s family knows that he will be spending this Christmas in Heaven. Derek is now their angel.
While Derek’s family and friends are heartbroken at his sudden loss his memory will live on in their hearts forever. Derek also chose to give the gift of life and healing to others through his choice of becoming an organ donor.
Words cannot express the gratitude Derek’s family feels for all those who have offered their support during this time.
In addition to his mom Jackie and dad Gil Derek is survived by his brother Chad Brillon and his fiancé Tiffany Gaudette and her son Jayden, and his niece Jazmin Marie Brillon all of Manville. Derek’s’ companion of many years and one of his best of friends is Sue St. Onge. Derek is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends. He was the grandson of the late Florian and Bertha Brillion and the late Joseph Leo and Gertrude Beaulieu.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday December 8, 2018 at 10:00 am in St. James Church on Division St. in Manville. Following the mass there will be an opportunity for all to pay their respects to the family. At the request of the family and in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children 516 Carew St. Springfield, MA. 01104 or www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org/springfield. It was at Shriners Hospital that Derek received much needed medical care for a condition he had from birth.
