Irene (Medeiros) Freitas, age 93, of Somerset passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2018. She was the beloved wife of the late Abel Freitas and the daughter of the late Joe & Mary Medeiros. Prior to retiring, Irene worked as a sewing machine operator. She was a parishioner of St. John of God Parish.
She is survived by her son Gilbert A. Freitas (wife Elaine) of Somerset; grandchildren Christopher Freitas (companion Emily McNamara) of Somerset and Kimberly Pignato (husband James) of Nantucket; great grandchildren Chase and Wrenn Pignato. She also leaves a nephew David Medeiros. Irene was the sister of the late Alice Tavares and Gil Medeiros.
Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. 1521 N. Main St., Fall River Saturday here at 10:00 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John of God Church, Brayton Ave., Somerset at 11:00 A.M. Calling hours Friday from 4-8 P.M. Interment in Nathan Slade Cemetery, Somerset.
