John F. Clinton, Jr., of Medford, passed away on November 29th. Born and raised in Charlestown, John was the son of the late John and Mary (Hafey). He served in the Army during the Korean War and the early years of Vietnam where he was in radio communications. He attended both Wentworth Institute of Technology and Northeastern University. He enjoyed a long career as an electronics engineer working with industry giants at Honeywell, G.E. and Panametrics. He was involved in everything from developing home thermostats to artificial heart valves, medical devices and lasers. John was a dedicated coach for Medford Little League, Medford Youth Hockey and was a Boy Scout Leader. He with his wife Patricia was active in many programs at St. Joseph Parish of Medford.
The beloved husband of Patricia (Richard) with whom he shared 53 years of marriage, he was the devoted father of John F. Clinton III and his wife Syndi of El Segundo, CA, Ann Marie Clinton of Beverly and her fiancé Eric Goldberg, Christopher Clinton and his wife Michelle of Framingham, and Debra McKnight and her husband Benjamin of Medford. John was a loving grandfather to Thomas, Ethan, Aran, Riley and Brendan. He was a dear brother of the late Mary Saccardo and dear uncle of Cristin Saccardo-Pugliese, Dyann Romero and the late Michael Saccardo and Jeanne Saccardo Thibault. He also leaves many great-nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in John’s name to the Sawtelle Hospice House, 41 Mall Road, Burlington, MA 01805.
The family is planning a memorial gathering and celebration of John’s life later this month.
