Obituary

Pastor Dereix St. Cloud of Dorchester, former pastor of Mount of Olives Evangelical Baptist Church passed away on November 23, 2018.
Dereix St. Cloud walked into eternity on Friday, November 23, 2018, at the age of 69. after a valiant struggle with numerous complications from kidney failure. For more than a year, he battled this disease without so much as a complaint. Never losing hope or faith, he suffered and died as he lived.
Throughout his life, Pastor St. Cloud had a singular calling to preach the gospel of Christ. His passion took him to every order of his homeland of Haiti as a young preacher, ministering to young and old with a fervor that left no doubt of his unequivocal, unbridled faith in God. During his tenure as the leader of Jeunesse Pour Christ, he built. Movement that touched incalculable lives, ignited the spiritual fire of numerous young preachers, and left a legacy hat continues to be a model to this day.
His pastoral ministry began at L'Eglise Nazarene Amis de La Sagresse where he served under Pastor Pierre-Louis Zephir. While he ministered there as assistant pastor, his prayer ministry continued to spread and he took part with many groups whom he felt were earnestly seeking God.
Whether alone or with a group, his Tuesday's and Saturday's were always spent in prayer. Later in 2008 he became the head pastor of the newly established Eglise Evangelique Baptiste Mont des Oliviers. There he combined his passions for prayer and preaching to nourish an ever-growing body of believers. Through a temperamentally moderate person his sermons left no stone unturned lest he be held accountable for an unrepentant soul. As he was fond of saying, "se pou'm preche w lavarite pou nana out sove."
His ministry at EMOBC was primarily focused on the spiritual well-being of the church, insisting on incessant prayer to intercede or his congregation. Though his leadership of the prayer ministry came at significant personalosts, he nevertheless assured that no prayer service was ever canceled if ever it were humanly possible to travel to the church.
He prayed long and hard for his parishioners naming each individual case and speaking knowingly of the factors thereof. He encouraged others to follow his lead, motivating them with his favorite saying "lesjournees donnees a Dieune won't Jamari's Perdue."
Correspondingly, pastor St. Cloudwas beloved by his Spiritual children. He had time for everyone and would hear you out no matter your concern. He relished moments of fellowship with his friends and brethren in Christ. No day was too busy for a shared meal with a friend. He showed his genuine love and affection for his church, and sought to make everyone at home in his assembly.
As a husband, father, brother, uncle, and neighbor, pastor St. Cloudwas caring, considerate, patient, and giving. Whether to ensure that his wif's wardrobe was complete, or that his children were achieving their full potential, that a guest never leave his home or that a little boy had his favorite candy. Pastor St. Cloud took an internet and followed through. His neighbors and coworkers knew him as an understanding and reliable person. He sought to build up and support rather than promote himself.
Beloved husband of Yvane (Etienne) Saint Cloud. Devoted father of Jerry and Fitz Gerald. Brother of Jean Robert Saint Cloud, Jean Luther Saint Cloud, Jean Wesley, and Fritz Saint Cloud, Gladys Saint Cloud, Emilie Saint Cloud. The family will receive visitors at the Mount of Olives Evangelical Baptist Church, 1285 Hyde Park Ave., Hyde Park, on Friday November 30th from 6 to 9 pm.
