Obituary

Victor R. “Dick” Savignano age 86 of Hanson, formerly of Brockton, died unexpectedly Thursday November 29, 2018 while taking his daily walk. Dick was the husband of Anne (Brady) Savignano and the late Marie (Flaherty) Savignano. Born and raised in Brockton, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Adelina (Caruso) Savignano. Dick is the brother of Roland Savignano, Carol Ackerman, Gloria Savignano, and the late Nicholas Savignano.

Dick is survived by his daughter Mimi (Savignano) Griswold and her husband Robert W. of Cortland, NY and their children Michael and Casey, and his great grandchildren Davis, Reed and Violet. He is also survived by his son Richard D. Savignano and his wife Anne of Brockton and their children Alison, Melissa and Joseph. Dick was predeceased by his son, Michael J. Savignano. He also leaves many cherished nieces and nephews.

He also leaves a step daughter Kathy Repetto and her husband Edward of Brockton and their children Korie and Michael; a step daughter Marianne Leppo and her husband Carl of Easton and their children Matthew and Sarah, and a late step son Edwin Piver.

Dick lived most of his life in the city of Brockton before moving to Hanson 34 years ago.

A 1949 graduate of Brockton High School, Dick served in the US Army as a Sergeant during the Korean War and fought in combat in 1952-1953, earning the Army’s Combat Infantry Badge.

For forty four years, Dick worked for A&P Grocery stores in various locations. He retired in 1994 as a produce manager. He was a life member of VFW Post 1046, Club National, Bertocci Club and Conte Memorial Club.

Dick enjoyed travel, bocce, reading, tending to his yard and fine dining, but most importantly time spent with his family and friends. He will be remembered as a humble, hardworking, courageous, and caring man who was proud of his family and his military service.

Visiting hours will be held at the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte. 123) Brockton on Monday 3-7pm. The procession will gather at the funeral home on Tuesday at 9 am for a funeral Mass in Holy Ghost Church in Whitman at 10:30 am. A private burial in Calvary Cemetery will be at a later date.
