New Bedford – Alfredo Calheta, died Thursday, December 15, 2005 at New Bedford Rehab Hospital. He was the husband of Hilda (Medeiros) Calheta. Survivors include 1 son: Victor Calheta and 3 daughters: Nancy Arruda, Diane Calheta and Sherri Calheta all of New Bedford. Grandchildren include Jarrid Fernandes, Corin Mello, Tommy Ortiz and Dasian Ortiz.
Mr. Calheta was born in St. Michael, Azores, Portugal and lived in this area since 1968. He was the son of the late Manuel and Idalina (Frias) Calheta. He was formerly a roofer.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, December 19, 2005 at 10:30 A.M. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Sunday, December 18, 2005 from 6 - 9 P.M. at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St.
