Obituary

Wayland: Margaret T. “Peg” (Ahern) Curtin, 90, died peacefully and comfortably surrounded by her family on Thursday, November 22, 2018 following a period of declining health.
She was born in Waltham on January 29, 1928 the daughter of the late John F. Ahern and Marie O. (Demars) Ahern.
Peg was the wife of the late Robert E. Curtin, Sr. who died in 1996. She is survived by her beloved children Stephen J. Curtin and his wife Elizabeth Scranton Curtin of Wayland; David J. Curtin and his wife Pamela Curtin of Maynard: Janice M. Govoni and her husband Thomas Govoni of Yarmouthport and Robert E. Curtin, Jr and his wife Mary Anne Curtin of Newburyport. She was the sister of George Ahern of FL; Rosemarie Kaufman of Natick; Robert Ahern of Ashland; Richard Ahern of Ashland; Mary Ellen Hill of Waltham and the late John F. Ahern, Jr.; Paul Ahern and Bernadette Ahern. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
Peg spent her formative years in Waltham and graduated from Waltham High School. She has been a resident of Wayland for over 53 years and was a longtime communicant of St. Zepherin Church. Peg began her career as a bank teller with the Newton-Waltham Savings Bank in Waltham and retired after many years as a Bookkeeper in the field of Residential Property Services.
Her family was the center of her life and she enjoyed the many times that they shared together and especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her later years, she loved to travel, enjoyed needlework, sewing, cooking, painting and dancing and spent some time as a dance instructor. Peg was an avid reader and she enjoyed life to the fullest. She will be fondly remembered and loved by all who knew her.
Visitations will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 from 5:30 to 8:30 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (off Rte. 30), Wayland.
Family and friends are invited to go directly to her Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at 11:00 am at Good Shepherd Parish at St. Zepherin Church, 99 Main Street (Rte. 27), Wayland.
Interment will follow in the Curtin family lot in Calvary Cemetery in Waltham.
