Obituary

Nita F. McLaughlin, 98, Chesterfield, died November 22, 2018 at Miller's Merry Manor in Chesterfield due to failing health over the past few months.
Nita was born September 18, 1920 in Baskin, Louisiana, the daughter of Thomas Jackson Franklin and Alma Alverina (Tarver) Roach. She graduated college and nurses training in Vicksburg, MS.
She was a member of Cross Roads United Methodist Church.
She was a registered nurse in private practice then and industrial nurse at Delco Remy for 30 years before retiring in 1982. Nita loved to play cards and Bingo. She was a lifetime member of Moose Lodge # 150 and American Legion Post 408.
She is survived by her daughters, Susie (Bill) Lacy of Chesterfield and Donna Givens of Anderson; three grandchildren, Aaron Foster, Melissa Freestone both of Anderson and Derek Foster of Seattle, WA; five great grandchildren, Austin Freestone, Wyatte Stroud, Alexus Foster, Donovan Foster and Jacqueline Foster; great-great grandson, Dean Freestone and niece Linda Krouttner of Mobile, AL.
She was preceded in death by her spouse, Donald R. McLaughlin whom she married October 23, 1943; her parents, two sisters, Audrey LeMaire and Bertha McCaa; two step-brothers, Jesse Franklin, Harvey Franklin and son-in-law, Wayne Givens.
Nurse's Honors will be given at 3 p.m. followed by service Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Rev. John Hackney of Cross Roads United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Tomlinson Cemetery in Muncie.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to American Heart Association or Cross Roads United Methodist Church.
