Obituary

CHICOPEE ~ Robert L. “Bob” Beaulieu, 90, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, November 20, 2018. He passed into Eternal Life at his home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born at home on McKinstry Avenue in Chicopee on August 18, 1928, a beloved son of the late Albert H. and Zerila (Plante) Beaulieu. He was raised in Aldenville, graduated from Saint Joan of Arc Elementary School in Chicopee and Saint Francis High School in Biddeford, ME and was a lifelong resident of Aldenville. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War with the Headquarters Service Company 432nd Engineer Construction Battalion and attained the rank of Private. He was employed as a machine operator at Champion Packaging, which later became the Waldorf Corporation, in Chicopee and retired around 1993. He later worked part-time at Pat’s Supermarket in Holyoke and in the Redemption Center at Table and Vine in West Springfield. He was a daily communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee where he also served as a greeter, an usher, a Eucharistic Minister and a Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults Instructor and Godfather. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Elder Council 69 in Chicopee. Above all, he loved spending time with his loving family and his many dear friends. He was predeceased by his beloved wife and best friend, Doris M. (Davignon) Beaulieu who was Called Home on May 4, 2010. They were married on February 14, 1953 at the former Precious Blood Church in Holyoke and were blessed with over 57 years of happiness together. He leaves his eight loving children, Janine C. Rider and her partner, David Shannon, of Chicopee, Leonard R. Beaulieu and his wife, Deborah, of Pinellas Park, FL, Dolores M. DuBois and her husband, Joseph DuBois, Jr., of Chicopee, Claudette L. Desmarais and her husband, Kenneth Desmarais, Sr., of Wilbraham, Constance C. Karcz and her husband, Charles, and Robert A. Beaulieu and his wife, Tammy, all of Chicopee, Rita G. Motyka and her husband, Anthony, of Ludlow and Yvette A. Devoto of Belchertown; his 16 cherished grandchildren and nine cherished great-grandchildren; his dear sister, Delna LaBarre of Goffstown, NH; his five dear sisters-in-law, Lorette Beaulieu of Holyoke, Marie Paule Beaulieu of Chicopee, Aline Beaulieu of Belchertown, Jeannette Beaulieu of Chicopee and Estelle Reardon and her husband, John, of West Springfield; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Beaulieu and Davignon families. Besides his parents and wife, he was also predeceased by his eight dear siblings, his twin Richard, Marcel, Lawrence, Leopold, Cecile, Loretta, Aline and Margaret. His Funeral will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2018 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His Burial with United States Army Military Honors will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
