Milton, New Hampshire: Ellen E. (Jacobson) Engstrom, 93, formerly of Spencer, Mass, passed away on Friday, November 23, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She is predeceased by her loving husband Frederick in 1976 and son-in-law James in 2008. Ellen is survived by her 2 daughters- Esther M. Culverhouse of Milton, NH and Christine R. Ruston and husband Ronald of Hubbardston, MA; 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 1 brother Emil Jacobson; 2 sisters: Dora Randall and Agnes Christianson; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Harold and Oscar Jacobson.
Ellen was born in Lincoln Park, New Jersey, daughter of the late Henry and Elin (Wassen) Jacobson. She graduated from Montclair High School and The Salvation Army School for Officers. She and her husband worked for many years as a ministers for the Salvation Army in the Scandinavian division with many appointments to include, Brooklyn, NY, Erie, PA, Cleveland, OH, Connecticut, Chicago and Massachusetts. After early retirement, she still served others as a Home Health Aide in the Worcester area. She enjoyed her home on the lake in Spencer, knitting, crafting items for others. The joy of her life was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 from 10-11 a.m. in Nordgren Funeral Home 300 Lincoln St. Worcester, MA 01605. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in All Faiths Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ellen's memory may be made to The Salvation Army. org or The Hyder House Hospice Center, Dover, NH.
