Obituary

Donald A. Smith, 90, died, November 14, 2018 at the Embrace Hospice House in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Colin Smith and Elizabeth McDonald Smith. Donald was predeceased by his first wife of 40 years, Mary Clarke Smith, his second wife Elizabeth Hannagan of 12 years and his third wife Janet Heaverly of 8 years.

Don was a longtime, well respected, salesman for General Foods covering the New England market place. He loved golf, and despite living in Myrtle Beach the last 30 years, followed all the Boston sports teams. He raised his family to be welcoming to all, and his door was always open.

When people met him for the first time, they immediately felt as if they had known him all their lives. He coached Little League baseball in Natick for many years, and was a member of both the Amvets and Moose.

He spent the last couple of years with a regular morning routine of grabbing a coffee, then, looking at pictures and video's of his many great grandchildren. He is survived not only by his family, but by his best friend Dukie. A shelter dog he adopted a few years ago, but as he said many times, Dukie rescued him.

Don is survived by his son Donald Smith, his wife Janice of Medway, Linda Smith of Millis, Richard Smith and his wife Debra of Longmeadow, Paul Smith and his wife Debra and Steven Smith and his wife Samantha of Medway. As well as 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

St. Patrick’s Church, 44 E Central Street, Natick. Interment will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Monday evening 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home.
