PROVIDENCE – Alvaro S. Aguiar, age 76, of Somerset, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2018 at Hope Hospice. He was the beloved husband of Elvira (Medeiros) Aguiar. Born in Santa Bárbara das Capelas, São Miguel, Açores, he was the son of the late Jose and Mariana (De Jesus) Aguiar. Alvaro loved to garden and take care of his animals.
Along with his wife he is survived by his children Horace Aguiar (wife Stephanie) of Fall River and Dora Tantleff (husband Whit) of Baltimore, MD; brother Antone Souza Aguiar of Açores; 5 grandchildren Jeremy Aguiar, Casandra Felton, Nichole Aguiar, Emily Aguiar and Gavin Tantleff; 1 great-grandchild Leeah Aguiar. He was predeceased by his daughter Lee Aguiar-Jordan and his siblings Maria Dos Anjos Aguiar, Jose S. Aguiar and Leonilde Moniz.
His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Monday here at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John of God Church at 9:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
