Joanne M. (Jones) McNeil, a 24 year resident of Hampton Beach, New Hampshire and formerly of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at her daughters home. She was 80 years of age.
Joanne was born in Boston on October 17, 1938, a daughter of the late George Jones and Josephine (Lynch) Jones. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1956. Joanne was a homemaker most of her adult life dedicating herself to her husband, children and grandchildren. She enjoyed reading and listening to music while sitting on her deck at her home in Hampton Beach. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella # 1 and The Old Charlestown Schoolgirls Association.
Joanne is the beloved wife of the late James A. "Crash" McNeil. She is the devoted mother of Michelle Herdt and her late husband Randy, Shelagh Hayes and her husband Kevin, Joanne Vesey and her husband Tommy and the late Brendan McNeil. She is the loving Nana McNeil to Jarrett and his wife Nicole, Alanna, Lauren, Genevieve, Eileen, James and his wife Kristen, Justine, Kevin, Daniel and her great-grandchildren Makayla, Ethan, Neila and Daniel. She is the beloved sister-in-law of Sharon Fitzgerald and Brian McNeil. She is also survived by her many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Joanne's Funeral on Friday, November 16, 2018 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. Her burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. Her visiting hours will be on Thursday, November 15, 2018 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
