BOSTON -- Griffith M. Roberts, 73, of Dartmouth died Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2005, at Tufts New England Medical Center. He was the husband of Beverly A. McLane Roberts.
Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Griffith and Jeanette (MacArthur) Roberts.
He attended school in Dartmouth and graduated from Dartmouth College, where he played football and enjoyed skiing.
He joined the Army Reserve and served during the Korean War. He was stationed in Fort Sam, Houston, at Brooke Army Medical Center.
He ran the family business, New Bedford Stevedore Corp., and the company flourished under his leadership.
Mr. Roberts was a family man and enjoyed the simple things in life.
Survivors include his widow; three sons, Andrew M. Roberts and his wife, Karen, of Swampscott, and Stuart D. Roberts and Thomas M. Roberts, both of South Dartmouth; a daughter, Pamela A. R. Tatelbaum, and her husband, Evan, of New Bedford; and three grandchildren.
His graveside service will be at 12 Noon December 16, 2005 in South Dartmouth Cemetery, South Dartmouth, Ma. Remembrances may be made in his name to the American Heart Association, 20 Spleen St., Framingham, MA 01701-4688.
