Obituary

Frederick T. Love, 74 of E. Derry, NH, died Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at his home following a long-term illness and disability. Mr. Love was born in Boston, MA on June 4, 1931, a son of the late Wilfred C. and Angelina (Mullen) Love, Sr.. He was a resident of E. Derry for 33 years, formerly living in North Andover, MA. He was educated in Andover and at ITT Technical Institution. Mr. Love served with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Missouri (BB63) from 1949-1950 when it ran aground on a sandbar in the Chesapeake Bay, in Norfolk, Virginia. He married Jeanne Marie (Landry) Love on June 18, 1951. Later he returned to the U.S. Army and served with them for 22 years, retiring in 1976. Mr. Love had worked as an Electronics Technician for Pratt & Whitney in CT, Sanders in Lowell, MA and retired from the Dept. of Defense in 1988. He was a member of the St. Matthew’s Masonic Lodge of Andover, MA, a past president of the AARP, Nutfield Chapter No. 784, Derry, a member of the Derry Americans with Disabilities (ADA) committee and was appointed to the Derry Housing and Redevelopment Authority. During his retirement years he was an advocate for the elderly and those with disabilities. He was a voice for those who felt they had no voice. Mr. Love worked with the local and state National Republican Committee. He also spent many hours working with the E. Derry Fire District and received Station Two “Public Education Committee” Unit Citation, “In recognition of your numerous voluntary hours engaged in informing our public, “getting out the vote” and constructing our new fire station.”
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jeanne Marie (Landry) Love of E. Derry, four children, Linda M. Davies of Epping, NH, Frederick T. Love of Methuen, MA, Judith A. Love of Lawrence, MA, Leo J. Love of Salem, NH, seven grandchildren, Jennifer Davies-Sedwick, Colin W. Davies, Christin M. Davies, Nicole Love, Shannon Love, Christopher Ruffen, Jamie Love, four great-grandchildren, Kendra Green, Wil Eaton, Rapsidy Ruffen, Aja Leo, three sisters, Teresa Reed of Somerset, MA, Dorothy Cox of Worcester, MA, Mary McGary of Seabring, FL and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Wilfred C. Love, Jr.
