Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother,
Sister, Aunt and Friend
Passed away on November 7. Bernitta was born in rural Wabasha County on June 11, 1923. She was the sixth of ten children born to Emil and Anna Tentis. Bernitta graduated from Kellogg (MN) High School in 1941. She served her country during World War II building depth charges at the Hastings, NE Navel Ammunition Depot and later as a B-17 tail riveter in Los Angeles, CA. She returned to MN in the early 1950's; and on New Year's Eve 1953 met her future husband, James Cullen in Minneapolis. They were married from June,1954 until his death in 2006. Bernitta lived in North St. Paul for 64 years and was involved in numerous activities at St. Peter Church and School. She worked for many years as a "stroller lady" at the Maplewood Mall information desk. In addition to her parents, Bernitta was preceded in death by her brothers affectionately known by their nicknames: Burlap (Leo), Brosie (Lloyd), Felix (LaVern), and Boop (Emil Jr.,) Tentis, sisters Lorraine, Betty Leisen and infants Gordon and Elizabeth. She is survived by her son Craig (Linda), grandchildren Jeremy, Joe and Erin, sister Anna Mae Wodele, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Special thanks to the staff at Polar Ridge Senior Living, Good Samaritan Society and HealthEast Hospice for her care and support. Mass of Christian Burial Monday (11/19) 11:00 AM at CHURCH OF ST. PETER, 2600 N. Margaret St., North St. Paul. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation Sunday (11/18) 1-4 PM at SANDBERG FUNERAL HOME, 2593 E. 7th Ave., North St. Paul, and one hour prior to Mass at church.
