Irene A. Fournier, 80, of Woonsocket died Tuesday November 6, 2018 at Woonsocket Health Center. She was the loving wife of the late Normand E. Fournier.
Born and raised in Woonsocket she was the daughter of the late Albert and Aurore (Clement) Belisle. She was a lifelong resident of the city.
Mrs. Fournier was employed at Tech Industries before retiring.
Irene liked to play cards, cribbage and Yahtzee. She was an avid bingo player and had fun on outings to Twin River.
Irene will be remembered as a loving mother and her most favorite role was being a grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family was the center of her life.
Irene is survived by two sons Normand Fournier Jr. and his wife Donna of Woonsocket and Richard Fournier and his wife Sheryl of Providence and three daughters Yvonne Cortis and her husband James of Naples, Maine Jeannine Swearingen and her husband Daniel of Florida and Janet Dauphinais of Woonsocket. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and their families. She was the sister of the late Eva Pincince, Lillian Leroux and Beatrice Sawyer.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday November 16, 2018 at 10:00 am in Holy Family Church on South Main St. in Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham. Arrangements are by the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave. Woonsocket.
