Obituary

BOSTON: James J. “Jimmie” Donovan, III, 66, died on November 6, 2018 from complications of cancer.
He was born in Cambridge on January 19, 1952 the son of Elizabeth Ann “Betty” (Schlicting) Donovan of Natick and the late James J. Donovan, Jr. who died on October 26, 2006.
Besides his devoted mother, Betty Donovan, he is survived by his siblings Elizabeth Donovan of Bellingham; Anne Marie Rawding and her husband Robert Rawding of Erie, PA; Timothy J. Donovan of Natick; Daniel J. Donovan and his wife Mary Donovan of Stanford, VA and the late Mary Ellen Wellington who died in 2007. Uncle of Lisa Connors; Jack Hayes; Dawn Assencoa; Sam Schultz; T.J. Donovan; Zachary Donovan; Travis Donovan; Julia Donovan; Peter Rawding; Matthew Rawding; Amber Peele; Kelsey Elrod; Sean Donovan and Heather Potter. Brother-in-law of David Wellington of WA; Gerry Schultz of Holliston and Cathy Donovan of Franklin. Also survived by several great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Jimmie has resided in Boston for several years and spent the majority of his life in Natick. He graduated from Natick High School with the Class of 1969. For many years, he was a silk screener associated with Sical Co. in Natick. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and all sports, especially the New England Patriots. Jimmie served his country proudly and with honor as a Specialist 5 with the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict and with the United States Army Reserves.
Visitations will be held on Monday, November 12, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (off Rte. 30), Cochituate Village, Wayland.
Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at 9:15 am followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Good Shepherd Parish at St. Zepherin Church, 99 Main St (Rte. 27), Cochituate Village, Wayland.
Interment will follow in St. Zepherin Cemetery in Cochituate Village, Wayland.
For those who desire, his family kindly suggests that memorial gifts in Jimmie's memory may be sent to a local charity that benefits services for Veterans.
