Obituary

Daniel W. “Dan” McCarthy 68, of Centerville, died unexpectedly, Tuesday November 6, 2018 at his home. He was the beloved husband of Patricia A. (Landino) McCarthy, with whom he shared 44 years of marriage.

Born August 3, 1950, in Boston, a son of the late John J. and Marion V. (Daley) McCarthy, he was a former resident of Franklin and Uxbridge, before moving to Centerville 4 years ago.

He was raised and educated in Natick and was a retired sales representative for Republic Plumbing Supply.

A proud American, he served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He attained the rank of seaman and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. Dan was honorably discharged in Feb. 1972.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, watching the New England Patriots, the Boston Red Sox, bike riding, playing golf and was also known to be quite a carpenter.

Dan was a Past Exalted Ruler of the Franklin Elks Lodge #2136 and a member of St. Mary’s Church, Franklin.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Stacey L. Beard and her husband Justin of Clearwater, FL, and Danielle M. Stoico and her husband Michael of Uxbridge, a brother John J. McCarthy, Jr. of Dover, NH, 2 sisters, Maureen Cotell of Exeter, NH and Karen McCarthy of Hampton, NH.

Also surviving are his grandchildren, Olivia Stoico, Ryan Stoico and his dog, “Jacobey”.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Wednesday Nov. 14th, at 9AM from the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Jude Church 86 Main St. Norfolk, at 10AM.

His interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Franklin will be held privately.

Calling hours are Tuesday Nov. 13th from 4-8PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be sent to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society Greater New England Chapter 101A 1st Ave. Waltham, MA 02451.
