Gertrude M. "Trudy" (Hacking) Fortier, 93, of New Bedford died November 6, 2018 peacefully at Sacred Heart Home.
She was the beloved wife of the late Wilfrid C. Fortier, to whom she was married for 42 years and who passed away on January 26, 1991.
Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Lester and Elizabeth (Marginson) Hacking, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
Mrs. Fortier was a communicant of St. Martin's Episcopal Church.
She was formerly employed by New Bedford Credit Union and Merchants National Bank for many years until her retirement.
Mrs. Fortier was a graduate of New Bedford High School.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Fortier and his partner Krista Brejcha of New Bedford and William Fortier and his wife Angie of Knightdale, NC; a brother, Lester Hacking, Jr. of Vermont; a granddaughter, Brianne Fortier; and a great-granddaughter.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 13th at 11 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Acushnet Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Monday from 4-6 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Sacred Heart Home, St. Michael's Unit, 359 Summer St., New Bedford, MA 02740.
