Obituary

HOLYOKE ~ Jean Claire Ruyffelaert, 77, of Holyoke, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, November 1, 2018. She passed into Eternal Life at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on April 26, 1941, the beloved daughter of the late John M. and Rose O. (Rival) Ruyffelaert. She was raised in Holyoke, attended Holyoke schools and had lived in Chicopee for over 20 years before returning to Holyoke in 2016. She was employed as a machine operator at the former James River Graphics in South Hadley. Jean enjoyed cooking and loved attending local bingo games and visiting Foxwoods Casino. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. She leaves her husband, Edward R. Walz; her three daughters, Katherine M. Walz of Holyoke, Linda A. LaFleche and husband, Wayne, of Chicopee and Diane L. Greaney and husband, Shawn, of Westfield; her eight grandchildren, Jennifer Wright, Wayne LaFleche, Jr., Jason LaFleche and wife, Lena, Jeffrey LaFleche, John Greaney and fiancée, Cherish, and Patrick, Meghan and Danielle Greaney; her two great-grandchildren, Emmalynn Rose and Ryan Greaney; her brother, John “Butch” Ruyffelaert and wife, Cecile, of South Hadley and their children, John and wife, Carol, Cindi and husband, Patrick, and Michael and wife, Paula; her special cousins, Karen Gendron, Debra Piquette, Carol Nyzio and Wayne Plouffe; and her many nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, November, 7, 2018 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville , (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Notre Dame Cemetery, 63 Lyman Street, South Hadley, MA 01075. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. prior to her Mass. The funeral home parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
