Obituary

WEBSTER - Lionel A. Ayotte, 92, died Tuesday, October 30, 2018 in Webster Manor. His wife of 42 years, Yvonne T. (Pelletier) Ayotte, died in 1993.

He leaves a son, Richard L. Ayotte and his partner, Ronald C. Russo, both of New York City; a sister, Pauline Ayotte of Southbridge; and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his brothers, Raymond, Robert and George Ayotte and by his sisters, Rita Berry and Jeannette Robidoux.

He was born and raised in Southbridge, the son of Armand and Beatrice (Gaumond) Ayotte and attended Cole Trade High School. He moved to Webster in 1951, when he married.

He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II.

Mr. Ayotte was a stock clerk at the American Optical Company in Southbridge all his working life before retiring. He was a member of the American Optical Quarter Century Club.

He belonged to Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. He enjoyed carpentry and woodworking as well as gardening. He liked to fix things.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, November 3, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 16 East Main Street. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Friday, November 2, in the funeral home. Donations in his name may be made to Tri-Valley, 10 Mill Street, Dudley, MA 01571.
