Irene C. Cummins, 86, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Tuesday, December 13, 2005, at the Fitzgerald Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held 2 P.M., Wednesday, December 14, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald, with Rev. James Hubbard, Rev. Steve Hood and Rev. Dan Hayes officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held 7 until 9, Tuesday evening at the funeral home
Mrs. Cummins was born January 6, 1919, in Ben Hill County, Georgia, to the late A.H. and Bertha Minix Conner. She lived in the community all of her life and received her LPN training at the Ben Hill County School of Nursing. Mrs. Cummins retired in 1980, having worked at Ben Hill County Hospital, Dorminy Medical Center, Irwin County Hospital and Palemon Gaskins Nursing Home. She was a member of the Nazarene Church, the Nurses Association and was a volunteer with the Red Cross Bloodmobile.
Mrs. Cummins is survived by many relatives, including, Marline Couey of Fitzgerald and Martha Gorman of Macon, both who cared for her during her last illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin W. Cummins.
