Oxford - Henry E. Hagberg, 97, died peacefully on Saturday, December 10, 2005, at The Sunbridge Sandalwood Nursing Home. He was born in Worcester on March 10, 1908, son of Carl and Ida (Ecklund) Hagberg and lived in Auburn for many years before moving to Barre.
His first wife, Ebba (Anderson) Hagberg, died in 1966. His second wife, Mary (LaPrad) Rose Hagberg died in 1995.
He leaves a daughter, Nancy and her husband Don Bjorkman of Auburn, a son-in-law, Jon Eccleston of Spencer, seven grandchildren, Karen Wambach, Donald Bjorkman, Jr., Kristen Roberts, Susan Rose, Alan Eccleston, Cheryl Herring and Robin Puchalski, 17 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandsons and many nephews and nieces. His daughter, Joyce Eccleston, 5 brothers, Carl, Erhard, Martin, Raymond and Bertil, and 3 sisters, Hildur Brandt, Esther Hagberg, and Mabel Erickson all predeceased him.
Henry graduated from Worcester Boy’s Trade School in 1928. He retired from Wyman Gordon Company in Grafton in 1973 where he worked as a Pattern Maker in the Model Shop for many years.
He was an avid sportsman and loved to fish in every season and also to hunt with his dog Ginger. He was a former member of the Barre Sportsman’s Club as well as the Singletary Sportsman’s Club in Sutton.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 13, in Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St. Worcester. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. A calling hour will be held one hour prior to the service.
