Maurice J. Bourque, 91, of New Bedford died Monday December 12, 2005 at Our Lady's Haven in Fairhaven after a long illness. He was the husband of Doris E. (Messier) Bourque; they were married for 68 years.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Arthur and Emeliene (Surprenant) Bourque, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
He was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church.
Mr. Bourque was formerly employed as a cost estimator for the Acushnet Company until his retirement.
He was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He served as a United Way representative for the Acushnet Company for many years.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Maurice R. Bourque and his wife Germaine of Acushnet, and Brother Paul R. Bourque, O.F.M. of New Bedford; a daughter, Madeleine E. Francis and her husband Shelton of Lake Havasu, Arizona; two sisters, Yvonne Mailloux of New Bedford and Lillian Saulnier of Maine; five grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Lucien Bourque and Armand Bourque.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday December 16, 2005 at 10 AM in Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford on Friday morning 8:30-9:30 AM, prior to the Funeral Mass.
