Obituary

Steven P. Espindola, 68, of New Bedford died October 24, 2018 at Hope Hospice in Providence after a long illness.
He was the husband of Annemarie (Saba) Espindola.
Born in New Bedford, son of the late Albert and Dorothy A. (Poirier) Espindola, he was raised in Fairhaven and lived in New Bedford most of his life.
Mr. Espindola was a communicant of Our Lady of Purgatory Church.
His passion was working with the mentally challenged and elderly. He was employed as a maintenance man with the Fairhaven Housing Authority for many years until his retirement.
Mr. Espindola enjoyed spending time with his family and he was an avid Boston sports fan.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife; 2 brothers, Richard Espindola and his wife Nancy of Dartmouth and Robert Espindola and his wife Ann of Fairhaven; 7 sisters, Beverly Rousseau and her husband John, Diane Tapper and her husband Christopher, Marilyn Allaire, Tricia Espindola and Donna Dwelly, all of Fairhaven, Janis Steed and her husband Robert of New Bedford and Susan Breton and her husband Mark of Acushnet; and numerous nieces and nephews.
His Funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 30th at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by the Divine Liturgy in Our Lady of Purgatory Church at 10 AM. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, October 29th from 4-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or to the Educational Foundation at Our Lady of Purgatory Church, 11 Franklin St., New Bedford, MA. 02740.
