Obituary

Michael J. Kearney, of Wrentham, formerly of Franklin and Shrewsbury, died on October 23, 2018 surrounded by his beloved family. He was sixty years old and the son of the late Robert M. and Ann L. “Nancy” (McCaffrey) Kearney.

Born with cerebral palsy, Michael faced the challenges of life as best he could with a natural curiosity about what made things work, a tremendous amount of love he freely shared, and a bit of mischievousness which always had a way of making people laugh. His red hair and broad Irish smile were his trademarks. Though he never spoke a word, he managed communicate his genuine warmth and had an ability to bring people together.

He will be missed by his loving siblings, Mary Ellen Mullaney and her husband Ray, Juli Kearney, and Christopher Kearney, all of Franklin, Amy Kearney of East Boston, and Rev. Timothy Kearney of Beverly, MA. He is also survived by his niece Kathleen Mullaney of Franklin, nephew Jeremy Kearney of East Boston, and a grandniece Emily Kearney of East Boston.

Michael’s funeral will be celebrated on Saturday, October 27th at 10 AM at St. Jude Church in Norfolk. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Franklin.

Calling hours will be held at the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. on Friday, October 26th from 4-7 PM.

The family also wishes to extend its gratitude to all the staff who cared for Michael when he resided at the Irving Glavin Regional Center in Shrewsbury and the Wrentham Developmental Center in Wrentham. Your loving care for Michael was exceptional and your tireless dedication will always be appreciated.
